I am so in love with this book series! Ok, I’m gonna tell on myself a little here… my decision to purchase the 1st book, “Fighting Destiny” was probably about 90% due to the amazing cover! I know, I know… don’t say it, the thing about judging a book and all! For me, it’s just another reason to love Amy, she puts everything into her stories, including beautiful covers…and the cover for this 3rd on “Escaping Destiny”… oh man, I just want to blow it up, frame it and put it on my wall!
Ok, enough about my book buying decisions and “cover love”…hehe, Amy has officially taken first place on my fave author list. Yes, I am a paranormal romance junkie, so I’m in my element here, but it really takes a writer with significant talent to excel in this genre. On the surface, this genre may seem like a fairly easy area to work within… but think about it…there may very well be more leeway in the creation of characters, their abilities and the realms in which they exist; where their limitations are really only restricted by the author’s imagination. But…cause ya knew there was a “but” coming… to be successful and truly capture a readers loyalty, they have to believe that these supernatural characters and the journeys they embark upon are real. When an author can infuse their creations of fantasy with overwhelming emotion, personality and presence… well, those creations transcend their imaginary foundations and find life within a fan’s reality.
The parallel of “ebb & flow” that we all experience in our own lives was emphasized for me in the continuation of Ryder and Syn’s story. Let me clarify what I mean by that… even though the rest of us can’t glamour, aren’t immortal and don’t keep company with Goddesses; we all have times in our lives that are gonna be just a little more exciting and adventurous than others. For example, just like we aren’t gonna experience an action-packed, getting the huge promotion at work/dream job and scratching a winning lottery ticket every day…Syn and Ryder aren’t gonna be escaping from psychotic murderers, be a run-away bride and save the world either. It just can’t work like that…even in a “Faery Tale”… yep, pun intended!
“Escaping Destiny” really gave us opportunities to not only learn more about Ryder, Ristan and his guards, and the relationship between them; but we saw a strengthening of the connection between Syn and Ryder. Amy also gave us an endearing look at the friendship that’s forming between Syn and Ristan as well. Don’t misunderstand; there is still plenty of action, both in and out of the bedroom, political maneuvering and kick-ass fighting… “Goddesses, Pirates and Zombies, oh my!” hehe!
What has got to be the best thing, for me, about “The Fae Chronicles” series is that Amy created a female heroine in Syn, that’s just as strong, if at times not stronger, than the hero, Ryder. I hate when I’m reading a book and the female lead does something either so stupid and/or weak minded it just makes me cringe. In those situations, I will pause in my reading and imagine a different course of action for the heroine or verbal response and then pick back up with the story. I don’t know if any of you have ever done that… but I’ve not had to do once when reading this series! I love that Syn gives as good as she gets, she’s the “sassy” alter ego of myself that I hope to one day coax to come out and play a little more! And Ryder…*sigh* what’s not to love and lust after about the incredibly sexy and sensual Ryder? Amy needs to get Ryder to dictate a “Woman Pleasing” manual of some kind that we can buy and discreetly leave for our significant other’s to stumble upon and commit to memory; or even better, maybe he can round em all up and give em a crash course!
Ok, so after writing my own book to give major kudos to “Escaping Destiny” and the very talented Amy Hutchins…I hope I’ve at least sparked interest for anyone that hasn’t read this series yet, get on your “one-click” now! I promise… you will not regret it!

5 OH MY GOSH SHE'S DONE IT YET AGAIN STARS!!!! OK so I've been impatiently waiting for this book for what seems like ever and it was WORTH it!!! I loved getting to see a softer side to Ryder, or at least as soft as he can get. :) Syn is just as tough and awesome as she was before. I love the answers you get in this book and the new questions it brings up. Definitely add it to your TBR!!!
